International Thespian Society at
Cardinal Mooney

The International Thespian Society (ITS) is the only theatre honor society for middle and high school students in the country. Affiliation brings credibility and distinction to students, theatre programs, and schools. ITS recognizes, rewards, and encourages student achievement and celebrates the work of students in all aspects of theatre— performance and production. Each student is honored on a national level and gains access to opportunities and resources beyond those of their school.

Cardinal Mooney High School is home to Thespian Troupe 8903. Our troupe was officially chartered on September 9, 2019, and Mooney’s first nine members were inducted that fall. Thespian members receive an induction pin and certificate, and can earn honors for academics and theatre work. Graduating thespians can earn honor cords to wear with their cap and gown.

“I promise to uphold the aims and ideals of the International Thespian Society. I am a student of theatre and excellence is my ideal. I promise to perform my part as well as I can; to accept praise and criticism with grace; to cooperate with my fellow Thespians and work for the good of the troupe, and to share my love of theatre.”
